GOTTTOSAY: The One Good Track On WZRD’s Album…

This project really should’ve worked.

God knows I was insanely excited to hear about the debut collaborative set from 28-year old Kid Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) and friend/producer Dot Da Genius (real name Oladipo Omishore).

I thought Cudi’s first two solo LP’s ‘Man on the Moon: The End of Day’ and ‘Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager were forward focused, seething with solid ideas and a sprinkling of nice melodies…

With Cudi set to feature on Kanye West’s ‘G.O.O.D Music’ album featuring artists from the rapper’s label like Big Sean and Pusha T and the third installment of Cudi’s ‘Man on the Moon’ series of records coming later in the year I’m still definitely routing for the Cleavland, Ohio native.

But ‘WZRD’, which was released earlier this year is chock-a-block full of misfires for some weird reason.

The album, sharing the name of the pair’s stage outfit includes a take on ‘Under Your Spell’ from Desire which left me speechless for the wrong reasons…HOWEVER as most of y’all should know by now I don’t like to blog about what I don’t like…

So why am I bloggin about ‘WZRD’ you ask?

Solely because of a track called ‘The Dream Time Machine’ featuring Australian music twosome Empire Of The Sun…ahhh redemption! Have a listen below…
